Only 6 Ingredients Needed

  • 1 sheet of frozen Puff Pastry– thaw according to package directions.
  • Egg– gets brushed on the puff pastry so that it gets extra golden and crispy.
  • Cream Cheese– Forms a creamy filling for the pastries.
  • Granulated Sugar– Adds a little sweetness to the creamy filling.
  • Almond Extract– I find the flavor of almond extract to be irresistible. You can use vanilla extract if you prefer.
  • Cherry Pie Filling– using canned cherry pie filling makes this recipe really quick and easy.

How To Make Air Fryer Cherry Danishes

  • Prepare the puff pastry. Once thawed, cut the puff pastry into 6 rectangles. Poke holes in the middle of each piece. Brush with egg wash.
  • Precook the puff pastry for 4 minutes.
  • Mix filling. Beat together cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract.
  • Add filling. Press down on the middle of each piece to form a pocket for the filling. Spread a little cream cheese mixture on each one and top with about 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling.
  • Air fry for 3 minutes.

How To Serve

Perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert. Tastes best fresh and served a little warm. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheated in the microwave.

Use Cooking Time As An Estimate

Cooking times can vary greatly between different air fryer brands and models so use the cooking time as an estimate and check early. They are done when the puff pastry is completely golden and not doughy.

Recipe Tips

  • Avoid adding too much cherry pie filling. It will overflow and make a mess while cooking.
  • Do not crowd the air fryer basket. You need room for the puff pastry to expand. Cook in batches.

Variations

  • You can use any flavor of canned pie filling for this recipe. Apple, blueberry, or peach all work well.
  • Add a crunchy nut topping. If you wish, add some sliced almonds on top when you add the cherry pie filling.
