Air Fryer Boursin Mushrooms

Air Fryer Boursin Mushrooms make a fantastically quick and easy party appetizer. Only 2 to 3 ingredients needed and 8 to 10 minutes of air frying time. The creamy, cheesy filling of boursin cheese gives them so much flavor.

Boursin Cheese

Boursin cheese is a wonderfully soft and creamy spreadable cheese. It originated in France and is full of herbs and spices. It comes in a variety of flavors and all of them will work for this recipe. I typically use either Garlic and Fine Herbs or Shallot and Chive. Boursin cheese is also great for stuffing chicken or as an addition to a charcuterie board.

Type Of Mushrooms To Use

White or Cremini Mushrooms work best for this recipe. You want to use medium to large mushrooms. Small mushrooms will not hold enough filling. If your store sells them, you can buy mushroom caps that already have the stems removed and you will have a little less prep work. I find you still need to carve out a little of the underside of the mushroom caps so there is plenty of room for the filling.

How To Make

  • Prep The Mushrooms. Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems if they still have them. I also like to take a sharp paring knife and cut a little more of the underside of the mushroom away to make plenty of room for the filling.
  • Fill each mushroom cap with boursin cheese.
  • Air fry at 370 for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with a little chopped thyme or parsley if desired.

How To Clean Mushrooms

You do not want to wash mushrooms with water. They already have a very high water content and if they soak up more water, it will change their texture. Instead, take a damp paper towel and wipe them clean. No need to worry if a little dirt is left behind.

Variations

  • Sprinkle a few Panko crumbs on top for a crispy topping.
  • Mix in a tablespoon of minced sun-dried tomatoes to the cheese filling.
  • Mix in a minced garlic clove into the cheese.
  • Other great mix-ins include cooked, crumbled bacon and fresh spinach leaves.

Air Fryer Cooking Times

Air fryer cooking times vary and should be used as an estimate. Check early to make sure you do not overcook them.

Great Idea For Leftovers

If you have leftovers, chop them up and add to an egg scramble or use as an omelet filling. So delicious!!

Storage

Leftovers will keep for 3 to 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator and can be reheated in the air fryer.
