What You’ll Love About Air Fryer Scones

  • Small Batch– This recipe only makes 4 scones. No need to worry about waste or overeating. Since scones are best eaten the day they are made, I love a small-batch scone recipe.
  • Perfect Texture– Because the air fryer cooks so quickly, the scones stay wonderfully moist and tender but the outside gets a little crispy.
  • Quick and Easy– Made with simple ingredients you are likely to have on hand and they air fry in just 6 minutes!

Ingredient Notes

  • All-Purpose Flour– be sure to measure the flour correctly. Fluff it up in the bag and gently scoop it with a large spoon into a dry measuring cup. Overfill it slightly and run the back of a knife across the top to get rid of the excess.
  • Salted Butter– cut into cubes and cold. You can use unsalted butter and add a pinch of salt.
  • Vanilla Extract– be sure to use real vanilla extract and not artificial for best flavor.

Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overwork the dough or your scones will be tough and not tender. Just stir the ingredients until combined and then pat into a disc. You don’t want to knead the dough.
  • Air fryer cooking times vary between different air fryers so use the cooking time as an estimate. Check early and often.

Variations

  • Sprinkle some coarse sugar on top before air frying. This will give the scones a bakery style crunch.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract for extra flavor.
  • Instead of using mini chocolate chips, you could use chopped dark chocolate.

Storage

Scones are best eaten the day they are made but will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days. Rewarm in a 300 degree air fryer for a minute or two.
