Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- You don’t have to turn the oven on.
- Perfect for small celebrations. It makes 5 to 6 servings.
- Bakes faster in the air fryer than in the oven. The air frying time is only 22 to 24 minutes.
- Moist texture. Because the cake cooks so fast, it doesn’t dry out.
- Super creamy frosting. A thick layer of rich buttercream frosting finishes the cake off.
- Loaded with colorful sprinkles. I just love sprinkles. Don’t you?

Small Cake Pan
You’ll need a small 7-inch cake pan for this recipe. One that has at least 2-inch sides is perfect. I use this Aluminum Round Cake Pan.
How To Make Air Fryer Funfetti Cake
(More detailed instructions in recipe card below.)
- Mix dry ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

- Cream butter and sugar. Using an electric mixer (either hand-held or stand) beat softened butter and sugar until creamy.

- Mix in the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.

- Add flour alternating with milk and mix just until combined.

- Stir in the sprinkles.
- Transfer to a greased cake pan. Air fry 22 to 24 minutes at 320 degrees.

- Let cool and then frost. To make frosting, beat butter until creamy and then beat in powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Stir in sprinkles.

Recipe Tips
- Do NOT overbeat the batter.
- Air fryer cooking times vary so check early and check often.
- If the top starts to get too brown before the center is set, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
- Cake is done when a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
- Cool cake completely before frosting.
Storage
Store at room temperature in an airtight container for 2 to 3 days at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
