Air Fryer Summer Squash
Air Fryer Summer Squash makes a quick and easy summer side dish. Wonderfully healthy and only takes about 12 minutes to air fry.
Air frying squash gets it golden brown in spots and really brings out its sweetness. This summer side dish is wonderfully delicious.
How To Pick Squash
When picking squash, select squash that are firm and have a smooth, plump skin. Buy medium to small squash for best flavor and texture.
Shake Halfway Through
Don’t forget to open the air fryer and shake the basket halfway through the cooking time. This will help ensure the squash cooks evenly.
Which Air Fryer To Use
I use the Cosori 5.8-quart Air Fryer and highly recommend it. It is reasonably priced, cooks well, and makes a little less noise than some other brands.
Add More Flavor
I seasoned this squash with just salt, pepper, a little garlic powder, and either dried basil or dried thyme to keep it simple. Add a little cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes to make it spicy. Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese the last minute of cooking for some cheese flavor.
Air Fryer Summer Squash Recipe Tips
Do not crowd the air fryer basket. You want the squash in a single layer. Fry in batches if necessary
Air fryer cooking times can vary greatly between different brands. Use the cooking time as an estimate and check frequently.
I like my squash pretty soft. If you want it a little crisp, shorten the cooking time some.
