Air Fryer Chocolate Mug Cake
Air Fryer Chocolate Mug Cake- this easy 3-ingredient dessert is a cinch to make in the air fryer. There’s hardly any clean-up. Just mix the ingredients in the mug and air fry for 12 minutes. So easy!

Single Serving
I love that the air fryer is great for making single serving desserts. This recipe makes 1 mug cake but it can easily be doubled or tripled. You should be able to fit 2 to 3 mugs in most air fryer baskets.

Ingredients
- Chocolate Cake Mix– I use Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines, but you can use your favorite.
- Applesauce– I use regular store-bought applesauce, but you can use unsweetened for a slightly less sweet mug cake or you can use cinnamon-flavored applesauce.
- Water
- Chocolate Frosting– I like to top the mug cakes with chocolate frosting. I just use store-bought. If you don’t want to use frosting, you could top the mug cake with Cool Whip or whipped cream.

Type Of Mug To Use
Be sure to use a mug that is heat-proof glass or ceramic. You want them to be 8 to 12 ounces. If you don’t have small mugs, you can use a ramekin instead.

Variations
- Add in a spoonful of chocolate chips or nuts.
- Add 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract for a Chocolate Almond Mug Cake.
- Try making this recipe with spice cake mix instead of chocolate cake mix.
Recipe Tips
- Do not overfill the mugs. The cake will rise quite a bit.
- Air fryer cooking times vary so use the air frying time as an estimate.
