Materials

  • cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Place butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a medium bowl. Use a hand-held electric mixer to beat at medium speed until creamy.
  • Add egg yolk and vanilla extract and beat until completely mixed in.
  • Add flour mixture and beat on low speed just until all the flour is incorporated.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Shape dough into 8 to 9 balls.
Place a piece of parchment paper in the air fryer basket. Arrange 4 to 5 dough balls on the parchment paper. (If you have a larger air fryer, you may be able to cook more at one time.)
  • Air fry for 8 minutes.
Repeat with any remaining dough balls.
Tip: I sometimes press a few extra chocolate chips into the cookies as soon as they are done cooking.

Notes

Makes 8 to 9 cookies.
You can use unsalted butter instead of salted.
There's no need to preheat the air fryer unless yours requires it.
